About the role
As an experienced Solution Architect, you will provide expertise in defining, designing, implementing, and managing the adoption and adherence to enterprise architecture technologies, strategies, processes and standards. Reporting into the Head of IT Architecture, you will participate in producing architectural deliverables including system and solution designs. You will also work with cross-functional teams to coordinate and ensure consistency of implementation across platforms. You will contribute to and validate the technical and operational feasibility of solutions, which may require prototyping and test bedding. You will also be responsible for analysing, designing, and optimising end-to-end solutions for customers.
You will be
Helping to ensure that relevant solutions are aligned with the Enterprise Architecture plan
Designing appropriate architectures for new or revised in-house solutions
Identifying and mitigating technical risks
Understanding, managing and reducing complexity with IT landscape
Baselining current applications and providing a clear roadmap for improvements
Collaboration in providing an independent, unbiased view of the implications of business and technology scenarios within and across enterprises
Providing a common language across domains
Specifying and designing large or complex systems.
Ensuring that the system design balances functional, service quality and systems management requirements.
Possess a broad technical knowledge across the full IT operating environment and integration platforms
Technical knowledge to cover:
Application architecture, understanding of component and tiers
Data architecture, understanding data sources, the mastering of data and the definition, management, manipulation and enrichment of data
Integration architecture, how data is passed and presented between systems
Technology / Infrastructure architecture, understanding those components that support the above (e.g. servers (by role), storage and networks (zones / subnets / VPNs) and security)
Previous experience in a systems development, deployment or technical management role
Deep analytical skills and strong retail technology background
Ability to communicate technical concepts to business users in a straightforward way
Ability to translate technical concepts, and data into meaningful business impact assessments
Experience of cloud vendors (Azure/AWS) and cloud-based implementations
